Located in the O'Brien area on the McCloud arm of the lake. Resorts are nearby with water craft rentals available. The nearest store is 8 miles north. There is abundant wildlife; osprey nests are nearby in easy view. There is an easy 3-mile hiking trail along the shoreline. Bailey Cove is open year round and reservable from May 16, 2008 to September 15, 2008.

Sunny, near water faucet, view of lake. All sites at this campground can accommodate tents as well as trailers, however there are no water/electric hookups or dump stations for trailers. There are flush toilets and potable water, however, there are no showers at this facility.

Campground is open year round.

  • Reservations must be made at least 4 days in advance.
  • This campground requires a 2 day minimum stay on weekends.
  • This campground requires a 3 day minimum stay on holiday weekends.
  • A $5 extra vehicle fee will be collected at the campground.
  • There is a $8.00 daily fee to launch your boat. This fee is not included in the campground fee.

Respect wildlife. Keep food in lockers provided or bring gear to hang food from trees out of reach of bears.
Poison oak is abundant throughout the forest.


  • From Shasta Lake Ranger Station, take I-5 North.
  • After approximately 8.5 miles, exit OBrien/Shasta Caverns exit (#695).
  • Turn right at end of off ramp. Continue along Shasta Caverns road for four tenths of a mile to the Bailey Cove junction on the right side of the road.
  • Turn right and follow road about six tenths of a mile to the campground on the right.
